Over 40 Style Diary: What I Wore Last Week - 7.6.26
Welcome to my F*ck Yeah Outfit weekly round-up!
I did my time playing small and wearing safe and meh outfits, but that’s not who I am anymore! So if you’re looking for over-40 outfit inspiration which is minimalist and beige, then this corner of the internet isn’t for you!
Things for context:
I live in Central London
The majority, but not all, of my clothes are pre-loved. ( I work on an 80/20 ish ratio)
I repeat-wear items a lot!
I’m a layering athlete!
Time for the outfits.
Outfit Note: I have a thing about how and where the hemlines in outfits interact with each other and my body! In fact, the reason I started experimenting with layering and became a layering athlete was a HUGE dissatisfaction with the silhouettes and line patterns that most clothes created on my body!
Anyway, these shorts started as long culottes, then inched up to become long shorts. Then, a few weeks ago (actually as an experiment for a client), I sliced them into the diagonal cut you see before you, and I LOVE them so much ( Sidenote: For a lot of women, diagonal lines work very well in outfit silhouettes).
Outfit Note: I have 2 of these hats and they will be my summer alternative to my beloved woollen winter beret! I’m really into the undone tie as a finisher right now. And this one made a delicious plummy burgundy colour sandwich with the balloon trousers!
Outfit Note: The same but different and I had a hair chop!
Outfit notes: This how you create streetwear vibes with a twist of whimsy which is one my go to F*ck yeah Style recipes.
Pearls and toothpaste make everything whimsical!
Outfit notes: Will I ever get bored of track pants and pearls? The evidence strongly points towards no, been in this era for 2 years now but with many iterations which keeps the boredom at bay!
More undone tie action!
Outfit Note: I wore this to my cousin’s 40th; inspired by a Carrie Bradshaw outfit. It definitely leaned more full whimsy than I normally do, but when it feels F*ck Yeah, it feels F*ck Yeah!! My Toucan bag is called Pauline!
Outfit Notes: I wore this to my middle brother’s birthday lunch (the day after my cousin’s 40th!) Athletic whimsy is definitely another one of my core F*ck Yeah style recipes!
That’s all from last week
